The theme of the composition: Sammys encounter with a trio of swimsuited girls in the grocery store where he works encompasses many of the themes blusher to adolescence, including accepting the repercussions of ones choices. Entering the study near the end, he represents the system: management, policy, decency, and the way things are. But he is not a one-dimensional character. He has known Sammys parents for a long judgment of conviction, and he tells Sammy that he should, at least for his parents sake, not quit his job in such a dramatic, knee-jerk way.

He warns Sammy that he will flip a hard time dealing with life from now on, should he quit.
